As your 2011 Geneva County Volunteer Firefighters' Association President, I would like to welcome you to our site and to update everyone on some of the upcoming events and ongoing projects that involve the association. As most of you know we have been working towards completing the countywide communications grant. We are currently awaiting word from FEMA on an amendment to the grant. Once the approval is received we will be ready to submit the request for bids and hopefully move forward quickly with finally installing the system. We are also expanding our mutual/automatic aid agreements here in the county and when complete every resident living in our county will have better fire protection because of this. These agreements ensure that every department in the county has plenty of personnel and resources to effectively fight any and all fires that may occur. One of our new efforts involves the creation of an Interstate/Intercounty Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. This system, when implemented, will combine our counties resources with those of Walton County Florida, Covington County Alabama and Holmes County Florida. By doing so every department in these counties will have access to unlimited resources by effectively combining each departments equipment into one large pool. I am excited about this system and look forward to seeing it come together.
In closing, again I want to welcome you to our site and invite you to contact me or any of our county fire chiefs with any questions or concerns you might have. You will find all of the information you need to contact us listed in our contact information page.
Thank you and stay safe,
Roger Wise, Chief, Flat Creek VFD President, Geneva County Volunteer Firefighters' Association
